Airside Mobile, Inc. – the Arlington, VA firm behind the popular Mobile Passport app — today announced the close of a $6 million Series A round investment, co-led by Blazar Ventures and Grotech Ventures. Bain Capital Ventures and 8VC also participated in the over-subscribed round, which will fuel the company’s plans for continued growth.
Blazar Ventures, started by the founders of NeuStar, was an early investor and advisor to Airside Mobile. “Airside Mobile’s digital identity platform provides a new and valuable identity proofing capability to the travel industry and beyond” said Robert Poulin a partner at Blazar Ventures.
“Airside Mobile’s vision for digital identity and its track record of success are compelling,” said Julia Taxin, partner at Grotech Ventures. “We look forward to partnering with the Airside team and Blazar Ventures on this new approach to identity proofing.”
Launched in 2014, Airside’s Mobile Passport app provides a fast, free and easy way through US passport control and customs at 24 major airports and the one cruise port. Available in both the Apple App Store and the Google Play store, the app is authorized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and sponsored by Airports Council International-North America, The Boeing Company, and Port Everglades. Over 2.5 million travelers have used Mobile Passport to breeze through customs.

The company will use the investment to grow Mobile Passport in new locations and to develop new identity-related products. Airside is actively hiring for its Arlington, VA-based headquarters.
